Dr. Valerie Roth: Continuing a Family Tradition
Something I am often asked is why I wanted to be a dentist. Obviously a little family influence as both my father and uncle are highly respected local dentists. My mother graduated from the dental hygiene program at University of Toronto, and then from the first restorative hygiene program, also at Toronto. Another reason is after winning awards playing in piano and typing competitions, I knew I wanted a profession that was hands on but allowed me to deal with people, and dentistry was the obvious answer.
I grew up in Kitchener, graduating from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science and then received a doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Western Ontario in 1988. My first position was as an associate with Dr. Richard Beyers on Lancaster St., where I had the privilege of being mentored by someone who among many other things was President of the College of Dental Surgeons. While there I purchased my father's practice when he retired in 1993. Then I moved to Park St. in 2002 to build my own practice. It has been an honour to continue to treat my father's patient's children and now their grandchildren.
I belong to the Canadian Dental Association, Ontario Dental Association, Waterloo Wellington Dental Association and a local dental study club.
On a personal level I adore animals—especially dogs—and spending time with family, friends and colleagues be it skiing in the winter or golfing in the summer time.
Our hygienists are Joann and Alison.

Joann graduated from the Durham College Dental Hygiene program in 1989. This puts here into the "Quarter Century Club" for her hygiene practice and has been working with Dr. Roth since 2000. Joann loves to read and travel so bring along your recommendations for a good book or trip destination.
Alison Fowler – RDH
Alison is a graduate of Algonquin College and has been in practice since 1992. Alison is also a member of the "Quarter Century Club" of hygiene practice and has been working with Dr. Roth since 2002. Alison also loves to travel and has a keen eye for photography.
